Marta Lucia Ramírez
Marta Lucía Ramírez de Rincón is the vice president of the Republic of Colombia. She has over 35 years of experience in business development, commerce, international negotiations and foreign investments, and has dedicated herself to implementing public policies that promote political, social and economic empowerment for women throughout the country. Ramírez leads matters related to transparency, anti-corruption, and gender equality and supervises the infrastructure and transport agenda under the Duque administration. In 2006, she was elected to the Senate and was president of the Senate’s second committee in charge of foreign relations. Ramírez was Colombia’s ambassador to the France in 2002 and was subsequently appointed minister of defense. She was first woman to hold this position in Colombia, and created the first human rights school of the armed forces. Ramírez has taught law at Los Andes and Javeriana Universities, and was an international relations fellow at Harvard University. She studied law at Javeriana University, specializing in commercial and financial law.
