Miguel Velandia
Miguel Velandia is the vice president and general manager of Medtronic in Brazil. He has more than 13 years of experience in the medical equipment industry in Latin America. Prior to arriving in Brazil, Velandia was vice president for Puerto Rico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Velandia led a number of key initiatives in the region, including channel optimization in Panama to allow direct sales in the country and expand Medtronic's space in the Dominican Republic, as well as closer partnerships and relationships with government stakeholders, hospital associations and sources payers. Prior to joining Medtronic, Velandia worked at Johnson & Johnson and held various positions of responsibility and scope, including sales, marketing, and strategy focused on emerging markets, margins & acquisitions, and overall management. Velandia is an electronic engineer, with a post-graduate degree in finance and an MBA from the Business School in Spain / Kenan-Flagler Business School, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Velandia lived and worked in Colombia, the United States, Puerto Rico, Panama, and Brazil. He’s married to Patricia and father of Maria Del Mar and Elisa.
