Paula Vargas
Paula Vargas is the director of privacy policy for Latin America & Canada at Meta. With over 10 years of experience in the tech ecosystem, she has developed regulatory positions and advised product teams on Internet Governance and Human Rights, Privacy and Data Protection, AI, Metaverse, digital goods, and payments. At Meta/Facebook, she leads a team that interacts internally with global policy, legal, and product privacy teams and engages externally with Data Protection Authorities across Latin America. She also develops programmatic initiatives with academia and civil society. Paula has led data governance committees at industry associations such as the Council of the Americas and the Latin American Internet Association (ALAI). She earned a Master's in Law from Berkeley University and is an active academic advocate, serving as a law professor at CETYS (Center for Society and Technology) and a founding member of the Internet Law & Technology Program (DITC).
