Scarlett Alvarez
Scarlett Alvarez is vice president and chief stakeholder and sustainability officer for AES. She joined AES in 2002 and has served in diverse roles at the local, regional, and corporate levels in the areas of stakeholder management, external and investor relations, corporate social responsibility, and corporate affairs. Alvarez is also a member of the board of directors of several AES companies in Brazil, Dominican Republic, and Panama. Prior to joining AES, she worked for the telecommunication company of Venezuela, a subsidiary of Verizon. Alvarez also has experience in the public sector, as she worked for the Venezuelan government in the New York office of the Ministry of Finance and the Permanent Mission to the UN. She also worked for the World Bank as program coordinator for the social development loans program to Venezuela. Since 2015, Alvarez has been a board member of the Trust for the Americas, a nonprofit organization affiliated with the Organization of American States. She holds a BA in business administration in management from Universidad Metropolitana and an master's in progressive finance, capital markets from New York University. Alvarez also completed the Advanced Management Program from Instituto de Estudios Superiores de Administración and received a certificate of management from University of Virginia's Darden Business School.
