Walter Pimenta is currently senior vice president, Products and Innovation, Latin America and Caribbean region (LAC). In this role he is responsible for the development and implementation of strategies focused on Consumer Products, Digital Products, Acceptance Solutions, Small Business, and Consumer Experience. Prior to this position, Pimenta was vice president of Digital Products for LAC. Pimenta is a technology and innovation enthusiast, passionate about the ways in which digital is reshaping the world around us. He leads the Mastercard Digital Solutions team for LAC to deliver the best experience to our cardholders in digital commerce: anywhere, anytime and with peace of mind. Pimenta joined Mastercard in 2011 and has 10 years of experience in the payments segment, with deep knowledge of the different payment schemes and its main players and technologies. He is a specialist on payment technologies such as EMV, Contactless, Tokenization and the application of those technologies and concepts in the new digital payment ecosystem. Prior to joining Mastercard, Pimenta served in managerial roles for firms such as Gemalto and Citibank. Pimenta graduated from Universidade Federal de Lavras with a both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in computer science.
