“When you combine technology… and good policy from the government, the people are prone to start using these products and services, said João Vitor Menin of Inter&Co at 2024 Council of the Americas Symposium. In a panel entitled "Advancing Digital Inclusion for Economic Growth," speakers highlighted past successes in and future prospects for promoting the adoption of technologies across Latin America.
“We have real examples across the region of when technology is established and public sector and private sector are working together. This creates more opportunity," said Paula Bellizia of Amazon Web Services. Andrés Cadena of McKinsey agreed but said that more needs to be done to "build the alliance" with the public and private sector to generate more investment in the region's infrastructure.
It's not enough just to generate growth. "One of the most important things is we put social progress and prosperity in the center of these advancements," said Juan Pablo Mata of Grupo Mariposa. Alejandro Anderlic of Salesforce agreed and said that private and public sector partnerships should aim to promote “not only digital literacy, but rather helping people train, land, or re-land a job in this digital economy."
