“Argentina is part of the solution," said Under Secretary Jose W. Fernandez at the 2022 Latin American Cities Conference: Buenos Aires on how the country can fill global needs for fuel and food and fight climate change while growing its economy. In conversation with AS/COA's Susan Segal, he explained that the United States can help Argentina develop its economy to increase development of valuable resources like lithium, rare earth minerals, and renewables. "Argentina has vast agriculture resources that can help feed the world at this very moment of crisis," he said.

“The stars are aligned not only for Argentina but also for the United States,” said U.S. Ambassador Marc R. Stanley in a conversation with his Argentine counterpart Jorge Argüello. Stanley explained that with technical assistance and investment from the United States, Argentina can develop critical resources like the Vaca Muerta shale gas and oil development. Argüello agreed on the opportunities present and said he'd like to see the trade volume between the two countries increase. He highlighted upcoming trips to the United States for Argentine President Alberto Fernández and ten Argentine governors, which he feels will help foster bilateral business ties.
