Press Conference with Fernando Botero

During an October 21 press conference at Americas Society, Colombian artist Fernando Botero discussed the creative process behind his circus paintings series. The same day, Americas Society hosted the launch of Botero's book called Circus: Paintings and Works on Paper. Inspired by a traveling circus he encountered in a small Mexican town on the Pacific coast, the artist used bright colors and unexpected movement to celebrate the poetry of the circus. Botero discussed what inspires his work, and provided his outlook on Colombia's future.
