Video: AS/COA's Susan Segal Named Honorary Chilean of the Year

On September 18, the North American-Chilean Chamber of Commerce recognized the President and CEO of the Americas Society/Council of the Americas Susan Segal with the title of Honorary Chilean of the Year, at the Chamber's annual dinner in New York.

In this video, presented during the Chamber’s award ceremony, Segal talked about Chile’s important role in her career. She began working with and focusing on Chile in the early 1980s, during one of the worst moments in the economic history of the country. She became "very involved in the restructuring of the Chilean debt," and chaired the Chilean Advisory Committee involved in the renegotiation.

"I watched and participated in Chile's economic transformation. And that was a real privilege and an honor for me, and it made an enormous impact on me as an individual and as a professional," says Segal.

Segal was elected president and CEO of the Americas Society and Council of the Americas in 2003 after working in the private sector with Latin America and other emerging markets for over 30 years. A passionate supporter of Latin America, she joined the organizations to implement a new strategic plan to renew and return the Society and Council to their historic position.
