After DREAMers and writer Álvaro Enrigue presented their fiction work to the audience, a panel with three of the border ambassadors from the new Americas Quarterly and two experts discussed the future of the Mexico-U.S. relationship in politics and daily life at the magazine's New York launch event. CFR's Shannon O'Neil talked about NAFTA renegotiations as a moment for both countries to rebuild trust and move on from recent difficulties. The Dallas Morning News' Alfredo Corchado highlighted the importance of Mexicans and Americans living at the border engaging in politics and elections. Panelists agreed on the intertwined nature of Mexican and American lives and how the Mexican community in the United States can reinforce the idea of the countries being allies.
