Video Q&A: IMF's Alejandro Werner on Latin America's Economic Growth

In an in-depth interview with AS/COA's Public Policy Programs Senior Director Ragnhild Melzi, Alejandro Werner explained why the International Monetary Fund revised its projected economic growth for the Western Hemisphere and discussed which countries could be most affected in the region.

The IMF Western Hemisphere Department director discussed how external factors, such as the global price of oil, can affect large energy endeavors in Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina. In the medium term, it could interrupt these countries' plans to become significant oil exporters in the region. Werner also talked about how Latin America can still fight inequality amid financial constrains and said that, with the end of the commodity boom in the region, countries should respondent prudently with policies that adjust to the new economic environment.
