"Whenever you’ve had elections across the region…one of the first things countries do is shift recognition away from Guaidó and to Maduro," AS/COA's Eric Farnsworth told The Washington Post.

A better option would be for Biden to ask more friendly nations, such as Canada and Mexico, for increased oil output, said AS/COA's Eric Farnsworth to Fortune.

"[The Western Hemisphere] is a region that Russia believes that if it can sow some instability and volatility that will negatively impact U.S. interests," said AS/COA's Eric Farnsworth to NPR.

"The challenges for Venezuela to increase [oil] production are huge," said AS/COA's Guillermo Zubillaga to the Miami Herald.
